Hi John,

There is good news and bad news.

We’ll start with the good news: This week, the Senate Law & Justice Committee held public hearings on two of our biggest priorities: restricting access to high-capacity magazines and rejecting armed intimidation. Hundreds of gun responsibility advocates showed up virtually and dozens more testified in support of these lifesaving policies. It was an incredible show of the widespread, diverse, and enthusiastic support for evidence-based gun safety measures.

But here is the bad news: Our opponents are more energized than they have been in years. They are putting everything they have into organizing against our agenda. And we won’t sugarcoat it, they have been able to turn out an extremely dedicated base online to voice opposition to these bills.

We know that their online army represents just a small minority of Washingtonians. But they are LOUD. And in a virtual session, we’re going to have to work twice as hard to make sure our elected officials know that their constituents want real action to address the gun violence epidemic.

We have strategic plans in place and are working around the clock to make sure we send that message. But we are stretched thin. We need your help to take on the gun lobby and make sure we’re successful this session. Please, donate today to fund our critical advocacy work.

Thank you,
Renée (she/her)
