So far, Massachusetts’ vaccine rollout has been too slow and has failed to address key equity concerns that have made it more difficult for communities hardest hit by COVID-19 to get vaccinated.
That’s why, yesterday, Ayanna wrote a letter urging Governor Charlie Baker to act with urgency and put the health and safety of our most vulnerable communities at the center of the Commonwealth’s COVID-19 response.
Along with pushing for a more robust, transparent, equitable state-level response, we’re supporting the United Way of Massachusetts Bay and Merrimack Valley, because it’s fallen on our community organizations to stand in the gap.
The United Way is providing desperately needed emergency services to our hardest hit communities in the form of financial support for rent/housing, food, and other necessities, as well as supporting on-the-ground programs working to meet those needs.
Can you make a contribution right now to help the United Way support our neighbors who have been hardest hit by this pandemic?

Ayanna is demanding that Governor Baker:
- Commit to prioritizing hot spot communities in the early phases of vaccine deployment;
- Commit to building out robust, community-centered programs to begin delivering and administering vaccines in hot spot communities;
- Partner with and invest in Community Health Centers throughout the Commonwealth to ensure that vaccination sites and culturally competent care are accessible in the hardest to reach communities.
Since the onset of this pandemic, more than 480,000 of our neighbors have contracted COVID-19, and more than 14,000 lives have been stolen by the virus.
And as cases continue to spike across Massachusetts, the Baker Administration’s response has been deeply inadequate.
Ayanna will continue to push for the resources and bold action — at the state and federal level — necessary to get a handle on the crisis. In the meantime, we’ll continue organizing to ensure that our communities are taken care of. Here’s how you can help:
Make a contribution right now to support the United Way of Massachusetts Bay and Merrimack Valley and fund their COVID-19 emergency response program.
Thank you,
The A-Team
