I know there's a lot happening across the country right now, John. But there’s something extra-special happening in my state of West Virginia.
Thousands of people are meeting in libraries and community centers in towns across West Virginia to talk about how to take back their state from the Good Old Boys' Club that has extracted wealth from working West Virginians for decades. Teachers and small business owners are deciding to take the plunge and run for the first time for State Senate and school board seats.
Leading this movement is Stephen Smith, candidate for Governor of West Virginia and co-founder of the West Virginia Working Families Party! He’s running together with more than 55 other candidates as part of the West Virginia Can’t Wait movement.
I am proud to know Stephen, and the Working Families Party is proud to be going all-out for him. But he needs our help now in order to win. Can you chip in before the end-of-month deadline to support our growing movement in West Virginia?

Stephen is challenging conventional wisdom in politics by centering his campaign around organizing and people, rather than cozying up to billionaires and corporations. He refuses to take corporate donations and is encouraging every candidate he recruits to take the same pledge.
Stephen is a proud pro-labor Democrat, with a serious track record. He led his previous organization to start more than 300 rural community gardens and small businesses, and helped win 27 policy victories alongside working families (including expanding the state’s school breakfast program by 5.2 million meals per year). During the West Virginia teachers’ strike last year, he helped raise a $332,000 Strike Fund to support teachers and school workers.
Can you support the growing movement in West Virginia? Contribute $3 to Stephen Smith for Governor before his critical end-of-month deadline here. Each dollar donated through this link will go directly to Stephen's campaign to organize working people across West Virginia.
