John xxxxxx,

Since the article of impeachment against Donald J. Trump was introduced to the Senate this Monday, many Republicans have made it clear they have no interest in holding the former president accountable to the rule of law. Trump is out of office, yet they’re still cowards.

Senator Marco Rubio called the impeachment effort “stupid.” Senator Rand Paul says it’s “dead on arrival.” And former Trump administration member Nikki Haley says we should all just “give the man a break.”

We’re talking about a sitting president who incited a violent mob in an insurrection on the U.S. Capitol in an effort to stop the peaceful transfer of power, the first attack on this building since the early 1800s. And Republicans want to just let that slide? I don’t think so.

Trump must be convicted for his wrongdoing and disqualified from ever holding public office again, so he can never bring this deadly, dangerous chaos back to Washington.

But in order to convict and disqualify Trump, we need a two-thirds supermajority in our favor. That means we need 17 Republican Senators to join Democrats on the right side of history and repudiate Trump.

If you agree with me that every member of the Senate, including Republicans, should uphold their oaths of office and vote to hold Trump accountable, add your name to my petition now. [[link removed]]

Let’s build the public pressure over these next two weeks to ensure we have enough votes to convict and disqualify Trump in the Senate so he can never harm our democracy again.

Keep the faith,

— Hakeem
