John, Democrats
in Congress who are unwilling to take bold stances on the most pressing
issues in America could squander our current opportunity for progress.

Democrats hold control of the House, Senate, and White House for the first
time in more than a decade. We must pass progressive legislation to
address the many crises in this country.

Senate Democrats like Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema, who suggest they
want to keep the filibuster and hand our government to Republicans, are
sacrificing our chance at:

* Securing voting rights for every single citizen, no matter what race,
income-level, or part of the country you live in.
* D.C. statehood so the people of D.C. can finally have proper
representation in Congress
* Bold racial justice legislation and criminal justice reform.

Joe Biden has made some important progress on immigrant and environmental
justice, but we need more from the White House and Congress. We can pass
bold reforms through the Democratic Congress, but only if moderates like
Joe Manchin are willing to face the realities of what needs to be done.

Republicans rejoiced in being obstacles to President Obama’s agenda and
blocked legislation on voting rights, DC statehood, and so much more since
Democrats took control of the House in 2018.

We need bold action from Senate Democrats, and that means leaving the
filibuster behind.
