Dear John,
Send a quick thank-you message to President Biden for halting new oil and gas extraction in our wild places!
|
The news just broke: President Joe Biden held true to his campaign promises and took a big step to stop Big Oil from destroying our wild places. He signed a moratorium on all new oil and gas extraction on federal lands and waters. Thank President Biden for protecting public lands and waters.
This is a huge victory for our wild places and the surrounding habitats. Big Oil and Gas have a dirty history of polluting air and water, devastating wildlife, and compromising the health of local communities. This new moratorium ends the Trump firesale that sold off our public places to Big Oil.
This is a strong signal from President Biden that he is committed to moving away from fossil fuels!
Send a message to President Biden: Thank him for taking the first step to protect public lands from Big Oil.
This was a result of years of organizing on the ground and Friends of the Earth members like you speaking out to oppose handing over our public lands and oceans to Big Oil!
There is still much more work to do. This moratorium begins the process of setting a new direction for how we use our public places.
Over the next few months, we’ll need you to weigh in to make this temporary pause in extraction permanent -- and to push for a just transition away from fossil fuels to protect and support the communities most impacted. But today we celebrate. Thank you for reminding President Biden to protect our wild places from Big Oil and demand a moratorium.
President Biden will face immense pressure from the oil and gas industry to change course. That’s why we need to show him that environmentalists like you have his back when he takes strong action to protect the planet and our climate.
Send a quick thank-you message to President Biden for halting new oil and gas extraction in our wild places.
Standing with you,
Nicole Ghio,
Senior fossil fuels program manager,
Friends of the Earth
