Tell #MNleg that making healthcare affordable is the will of the people
Dear John,
Hey, I’m Laura, TakeAction’s new Digital Strategist! This legislative session, I’ll be sending you key updates with opportunities to make your voice heard. I’d love to know what you want to hear from us this session. Reply to this email to let me know what you want to see in your inbox.
Yesterday, Kenza (our Public Affairs Director) wrote you about an incredible milestone in our healthcare fight: the MinnesotaCare Expansion bill (HF11) got its first hearing. Today, I’m writing with good news: the bill passed committee!
That means we’re one step closer to making sure every single Minnesotan has the option of enrolling in an affordable public healthcare plan. But we’ve got to keep the pressure on.
Email your legislators right now. Ask them to pass the MinnesotaCare Expansion bill and other policies that improve healthcare access and affordability, such as lowering prescription drug prices. Customize your message to have the most impact.
New state data from Altarum Healthcare Value Hub reveals that, in the past 12 months, almost half of Minnesota adults (45%) went without healthcare they needed due to cost, including 21 percent who cut pills in half, skipped doses of medicine, or did not fill a prescription. Three in four adults (76%) worry about affording healthcare in the future.
There’s a bright light in the data: 91 percent of Minnesotans agree it’s time for the government to expand health insurance options so everyone has quality coverage. Make it clear to lawmakers that making healthcare affordable and accessible is the will of the people. Email your legislators now.
In solidarity,
Laura
