I may be a DC outsider, but I am a North Carolina insider and I think that's just what we need in the US Senate. Senator Burr has announced that he will not be seeking re-election in 2022 and as some of you may already know, I'm hoping to earn the distinct privilege of representing North Carolina in the US Senate.

I grew up in rural North Carolina. I've represented rural North Carolina. I'm an HBCU alumna, a member of clergy, and servant leader with deep ties to the black community at large in North Carolina. I have worked in indigenous communities and I have organized alongside Latino and LGBTQ communities. I have shown up for them and I will continue to show up for ALL OF US.  I will listen and be an advocate for equality and justice, just as my record shows that I have been.

I will be relentless in my pursuit of racial and climate justice and an economy that works for everyone. I will fight everyday to preserve the dignity of work for North Carolinians, and to make their wages dignified. I will take on the monopolies that are strangling our small businesses and I will do whatever it takes to protect our climate and this planet. I will ensure that every American has affordable and quality healthcare and that we have a system centered around people, not profits. I will not allow the US Senate to continue to choose lobbyists over our children when it comes to common sense gun reform and I will fight to usher in the structural changes we need to dismantle the systems of racism and oppression that are tyrannizing and killing people of color across this country. 

With a bold platform for change, I can bridge the rural-urban divide and unite North Carolina. Showing up everywhere, taking no one for granted and fighting for every vote, we can follow in Stacey Abrams footsteps and make North Carolina the next Georgia.

THIS broad and diverse coalition of young and old, urban and rural, black, brown and white, this is how we win. This is the coalition that I have built in the last 20 years in this state, and represented in elected office for the last 12 years. This is the coalition that will flip NC. 

We will create infrastructure in rural counties across the state and aggressively register voters, creating a new electorate that will benefit Democrats up and down the ballot come 2022. But I need you. I don't accept fossil fuel money or corporate PAC money. This is a grassroots, people-powered campaign. If we are to be successful in 2022 and deliver real progress for North Carolina, I need your help.
