Friend,
Climate action won this election. It won us the White House and the Senate.
The promise of bold action, environmental justice, and clean energy jobs resonated with young people, communities of color, and working Americans at every level. That’s why we all showed up at historic levels and voted for Democrats. We voted for the most aggressive climate platform ever seen in a general election.
We voted, and now it’s time to turn those promises into reality.
On day one, President Joe Biden signed climate executive orders to rejoin the Paris Agreement, pause fossil fuel leasing on all federal land, including in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, and stop the construction of the harmful Keystone XL pipeline.
Today, President Biden is going further in executive actions to address the climate crisis including: protecting our public lands, waters, and coasts; reining in fossil fuel subsidies; making greater strides towards environmental justice; and jumpstarting a clean energy economy. These are just some of the executive actions showing the world that America is ready to lead on clean energy jobs, technology, and infrastructure.
I applaud the Biden Administration for taking these executive actions and am looking forward to America leading the world once again in the fight to address the climate crisis
Today shows that when we elect climate champions we get climate action.
Forward,
Tom
