Friend,
Earlier this month, 147 Republican members of Congress voted to throw out millions of ballots mere hours after the armed insurrection in the U.S. Capitol.
With the second impeachment trial of Donald Trump set to begin in two weeks, we cannot let up on full accountability for all Republican officials — in addition to Trump — for their seditious behavior. Our efforts to convict and ban Trump from office is a crucial step — but we cannot forget the actions of the 147 Republicans in Congress either.
Rep. Cori Bush has introduced legislation which charges that Republicans who voted to overturn the results of the presidential election violated the 14th Amendment to the Constitution.
The amendment states that no federal officeholder “shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the [United States], or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof.”
Write to your members of Congress to ensure all 147 Republicans who sought to undermine our free and fair elections are held accountable.
Every single official who voted to undermine our democratic system has no right to serve in Congress. Their choice to vote to throw out millions of votes simply because their party lost an election is grounds for expulsion.
Any Republican who aided Trump’s baseless plot to overturn the 2020 election must be held accountable. We must act to safeguard our democracy from all those who seek to subvert it.
Urge Congress to pass Rep. Cori Bush’s legislation to expel seditious members of the U.S. House and Senate.
Thank you,
