A message from City Council Deputy Leader, Cllr Sally Longford:
Sadly today we learned the tragic news that 500 people in our city have now died from Covid-19 since the start of the pandemic. This is a tragic milestone to have reached in Nottingham. I send my sincere and heartfelt condolences to everyone who has lost loved ones to this awful virus.
We know that this devastating loss of life will be felt right across Nottingham and we are planning a way to pay tribute to lost loved ones together as a city. More information will be announced in the next few days about this.
This figure really drives home the need to keep people safe over this pandemic and this has to be top priority for all of us. People must follow the rules to stop the spread of coronavirus:
- Hands: regularly wash hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds
- Face: wear a face covering
- Space: keep 2m apart from others not in your household
Please also continue to get a test with the NHS if you have symptoms of covid-19 (loss of taste or smell, fever or continuous cough) and self-isolate until you get the result. Free tests can be booked by calling the NHS on 113 or by visiting www.nhs.uk/coronavirus.
People are urged to book a vaccination for Covid-19 when it is their turn. Anyone over the age of 75 is urged to book their vaccination as soon as possible by going online or by calling 0115 8834640.

Holocaust Memorial Day
Today is Holocaust Memorial Day, a time when the world comes together to remember the six million Jews murdered during the Holocaust, alongside the millions of other people killed under Nazi Persecution and in genocides that followed in Cambodia, Rwanda, Bosnia and Darfur.
It?s a day to remember and honour those who have died and to commit ourselves to learning from the past to make sure nothing like that ever happens again. In Nottingham we will be commemorating with an online candle memorial this evening which has been organised by NCBI Nottingham. This will take place virtually through Zoom between 6pm and 7pm, find out more and how to register.
At 8pm tonight, alongside homes across the country, I will be placing a candle in my window to take part in Light the Darkness and remembering all those taken by genocide and hate.
Last week to have your say: Robin Hood travel card
The pandemic has changed the way we travel, most notably during periods of lockdown, but beyond that as we look forward to when the city starts to open up again. It seems likely more people will continue to work remotely.
With this in mind, we are reviewing the Robin Hood Network products ? which is one card that can be used to pay for most bus, tram and train services in Nottingham - to ensure that the ticket options available reflect the evolving needs of people in the city.
