John — Exactly one week ago today, President Biden was officially sworn into office.
He wasted no time on his very first day and took immediate steps to reverse the harmful policies of the last four years.
Within hours of his inauguration, Biden took urgent action by signing 17 executive orders to set us on the right path for many of the key issues I've been fighting for, such as immigration, COVID, and climate change.
I especially applaud the president's actions on the 2020 Census, which Trump continuously tried to undermine. Biden's direction to include undocumented immigrants puts us one step closer to ensuring a fair and accurate census count.
On the Oversight Committee last year, I released a detailed report on the economic and health benefits of the Paris Climate Agreement, which Trump removed the United States from. Thankfully, President Biden rejoined this critical international treaty as one of his first-day executive orders.
Biden's cabinet picks and leadership have already shown his commitment to other major efforts such as racial equity, listening to science, and providing COVID relief — all goals that I've been a staunch advocate for. And I'm looking forward to making more monumental and positive changes for the American people.
