John, we have one chance to convict Donald Trump and ban him from public office. He has proven himself unfit for duty beyond any reasonable doubt.
But as we've seen before, Trump-supporting Republicans are not reasonable.
The New York Times
Republicans vote en masse against trying Trump, signaling he is likely to be acquitted of the impeachment charge
45 out of 50 Senate Republicans just voted to throw out the trial before it even begins. They aren't interested in seeing any evidence or hearing from any witnesses -- they want to let Trump off the hook immediately. These are the same Senators who just days ago swore an oath to uphold "impartial justice" -- yeah, right.
We cannot let this stand. We need every Democrat reading this to sign our petition calling on the Senate to convict Donald Trump and ban him from public office ASAP -- we can't let him escape justice.

Let's be clear: these Republican Senators are acting out of fear. They think Trump is still powerful enough to cost them re-election if they vote to convict him.
These Senators should be scared of losing their seats, John, but not because of Trump.
The more people who sign on, the clearer it will be: we will organize and vote out any Senator who acquits Trump. We showed our strength in Georgia -- they know we're serious.
