Friend,

President Trump's hand-picked, extremist candidate -- Jason Lewis -- recently announced he's joining the race for the U.S. Senate in Minnesota against my friend, Tina Smith.

Lewis made a name for himself as an ultra-conservative radio host famous for his rants targeting women, people of color, and members of the LGBTQ community. His inflammatory remarks earned him a reputation as a "Mini-Trump."

Given the chance, you can bet that he'd vote in lockstep with Donald Trump and Mitch McConnell. This race couldn't be more important. If you don't want to see a "Mini-Trump" in the Senate, please split a $5 contribution or more to our campaigns to help defend Tina Smith's seat.

As a congressman, Lewis repeatedly sided with special interests and big corporations over the people of Minnesota, voting at every turn to gut protections for people with pre-existing conditions and give tax breaks to the super-wealthy.

Meanwhile, Tina has been hard at work leading a bipartisan effort to lower the cost of insulin, a life-saving drug that millions of Americans rely on. We need to defend Tina's seat so she can continue to make progress on the issues that matter most to Americans. But she can't do that without our help.

Republicans have set their sights on Minnesota -- after Trump nearly won the state in 2016 -- which means the GOP is already ramping up their fundraising and organizing ahead of 2020. Their investments might pay off if we don't fight back with all of our grassroots strength.

Donald Trump is determined to flip Minnesota, even vowing that he'd win the state on Twitter. We need to make sure Tina has the resources she needs to fight back. Can you pitch in $5 or more to our campaigns?
