COVID-19 and freezing temperatures are putting lives at risk

Dear John,

As a Goodwill Ambassador for UNHCR, I’ve met refugee families living in Lebanon and Jordan, and I’ve seen how they’ve managed to rebuild their lives after fleeing conflict, persecution and the threat of death. But, when the winter comes, making it through each day becomes so much harder.

In the Middle East, the harshest winter weather is yet to come. In the next few weeks, refugees are set to suffer freezing temperatures, deep snow and icy winds capable of destroying shelters. They can’t survive without our help.

As the global pandemic worsens, this is one of the most dangerous winters ever for refugees. We need you to commit to kindness with an emergency gift.

Just $60 could cover a family’s fuel and electricity bills, while an incredibly generous gift of $300 could provide a lifeline for a family living in a basic shelter, with a full winter kit including sleeping bags, high thermal blankets and warm jackets.

Thank you. Your actions could save lives this winter.

Ben Stiller,
UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador

P.S. Not many people realize just how cold it gets in the Middle East each winter, so please help by donating any amount you can now!
