We plan to peacefully stand outside the White House every day for climate

Dear John,

Take a shift at the White House!

President Biden has only been in office for a week, but he’s already shown
himself to be the climate champion we’d hoped for. On day one, America rejoined
the Paris Climate Agreement. And, in a move that left me pleasantly surprised,
Biden blocked the Keystone XL Pipeline -- a project many of us have fought
against for nearly a decade.

But the president’s most ambitious plan hasn’t yet been realized. On the
campaign trail, we were promised 100% carbon-free electricity by 2035. Until he
makes good on his promise, we plan to peacefully stand outside the White House
entrances and exits, holding signs that say "Keep Your Promise" and "100% by
2035" so staff who work there will see us every day as they commute.

We’ll be stationed outside the White House everyday, 7:30-8:30am and
5:30-6:30pm. Will you sign up to fill one of these shifts and hold up a sign to
remind the president of his promise?

Biden is understandably being flooded with legislation, visitors and ideas every
hour of every day. We want to be a constant, in-person reminder to him and his
staff that the people he’s serving -- and who won him the election -- want a
liveable climate.

The stakes are high. We have about a decade to avoid the worst impacts of
climate change. We’re already experiencing severe weather events, flooded-out
communities, and even deaths. We can’t let the opportunity for a net neutral
future slip away from us now.

Biden must keep his climate promise at the top of his agenda. Will you sign up
to fill one of these shifts and a hold sign outside the White House next week?
