Last night, Speaker Nancy Pelosi and the impeachment managers delivered the article of impeachment against Donald Trump to the Senate for inciting the attack on our government.

Despite accusations from some of Jason's GOP colleagues, convicting Trump isn't about partisanship or politics. It has always been about the one thing that Jason has defended more than any other -- our democracy.

A conviction of Trump is a step towards accountability -- which is long overdue. It will bar him from ever holding federal office again. It will begin the process of healing this country, and it will set a precedent that no person, not even the president of the United States, can violate the Constitution without consequence.

Just one year ago, Jason was an impeachment manager arguing the damage that Trump had, and would have, on our national security because of his abuse of power. The Senate voted to acquit. If the Senate allows Trump to get off scot-free again, what will happen if another attack is waged on our government, by Trump or anyone else?

January 6th's attack was the most outrageous abuse of power by a sitting president in recent memory, and it must be the last. For the sake of our democracy and our Constitution, the Senate must send a clear message and convict Trump.
