Hey there,
We're sure you've seen the headlines. ‘The GOP is in shambles.' ‘Republicans don't know who to turn to.' Even POLITICO is reporting that Trump is leaving behind a “diminished GOP.”
We don't like that narrative, and we'll tell you why: Underestimating the far-right extremists that power the GOP is the reason our country got to where it was at the end of Trump's term. It's the reason it took every organizing strategy, every penny in our coffers, every turnout tactic to defeat Donald Trump -- and we still almost came up short.
This is what we're focusing on from POLITICO instead: “the GOP broke spending records in 2020” and “top Republicans expect the GOP's minority status to drive innovation and sprout new groups.”
Republicans saw a surge in mega-donor activity to issue us a stunning defeat in 2010 after Democrats gained full control of Washington in 2008. We can expect them to build their war chests again.
That's why, now that our country is most in need of progressive reforms and united leadership, we're not keen on letting down our guard down and giving Republican extremists any chances to take back Washington.
But right when we're building our long-term strategy to support progressive campaigns for 2022 and remove every single Trump-apologist from power, Democrats have stopped paying attention, and we're already falling $1,027 short of our grassroots goal.
We do not want to see another 2016 in 2022. We do not want to see another 2010 in 2022.

Thank you so much for helping us to form a stronger progressive movement.
Because of you, we won't have to regret what we could have done to prepare.
