Friend,
We started this New Year with high hopes for the future. Even with the COVID-19 pandemic revealing deeply rooted injustices in this country, we have seen that the work we do at Hunger Free America works, and we look forward to doing more of it.
We already knew that hunger was intertwined with many other topics of social justice, but this pandemic has continued to prove that hunger justice is racial justice. The federal and state responses to COVID-19 have clearly demonstrated we’ve fallen short of protecting non-white lives with the same conviction that we do white ones. People of color have suffered from especially high levels of COVID-19 infections and deaths, and economic disparities are a key cause of these health disparities.
At Hunger Free America, we are on a mission to advocate for more public policy to bring justice to people of color and indigenous people, in the form of equitable housing, economic benefits, and food justice, all things the new federal administration says they support. But we need your help to hold them to their word.
Our end of month goal is $4,500. If every person who receives this email donates $1 right now, we will have enough money to begin carrying out our plans for justice in housing, healthcare, economics and food insecurity.

In America, Black and Hispanic poverty rates are double that of white poverty rates, and compared to whites, Black and Hispanic people are 13.1 and 8.1 percentage points more likely to be food insecure. As the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. made clear, you cannot have economic and food justice without racial justice.
We need broad public policy that safeguards Americans, and especially non-white Americans, from poverty and injustice. We are fighting for a future with more government benefits, living wages and long-term economic stability for all. Will you join us?
You can play an active role in the fight for racial justice and a hunger-free America by donating $5, $10 or $20 today.>>> ([link removed])
