We Beat Wiener! NOW Tell Newsom to Veto SB 330 & AB 1487
We stopped Scott Wiener's dystopian effort to destroy communities to make way for luxury housing towers. Thousands wrote & called Sacramento to stop Wiener. You're awesome!
Now we MUST KILL two bad bills awaiting signatures on Newsom's desk: SB 330 and AB 1487!
Why Gov. Newsom must veto SB 330 and how to send a message to him:
- SB 330 kills public hearings on housing projects at the community level — neighborhood councils, design boards, public benefits committees — all silenced.
- SB 330 urges developers to sue cities who miss tough new state "deadlines." Developers can sue for $50,000 for each unit not approved. Seriously, people.
- SB 330 allows anyone who hears that a city denied a housing project, to ALSO SUE the city, by claiming they "intended" to rent a unit in the proposed development.
- SB 330 is a luxury housing bill which requires that ZERO affordable units.
We can't make this kind of stuff up, people. Using the above points, do this right now:

We also need your voice, telling Newsom to kill sleeper bill AB 1487!
- Transit bureaucrats can't run the buses on time. AB 1487 gives them vast powers to oversee housing development, which they know zilch about!
- AB 1487 creates a closed-door housing bureaucracy voters don’t elect, then gives them the power to repeatedly place taxes on the ballot. A recipe for disaster.
- Transit use in the Bay Area is collapsing (San Francisco Chronicle) and L.A. ridership has plunged to 1985 levels (L.A. Times). Don't reward metro bosses with AB 1487.
- If AB 1487 is forced on the Bay Area, metro officials in Central & Southern California will demand the same powers over housing.
