John,
Last night, the article of impeachment against Donald Trump was delivered to the Senate -- and now we await the beginning of the Senate trial.
Trump is a danger to this country both as a former president and as a private citizen. A new administration coming into office does not absolve him of responsibility for inciting the insurrection on our Capitol -- and we can't have unity and healing without accountability. Action must be taken to ensure this never happens again.
As of right now, Trump is still benefiting from being a former president. Nothing is stopping him from announcing another presidential campaign. He could incite another attack. Or worse -- he could open the door for someone even more dangerous. It must be made clear that no president, now or in the future, can lead an attack against the U.S. government. For the sake of our democracy and our Constitution, the Senate must vote to convict Trump.
I am mounting the case against Trump, together with the impeachment manager team, and will present that case to the Senate in a matter of weeks. I need your voice too, John.
Add your name to the chorus of voices who want to see Trump held accountable. Sign on to the petition now.
Thank you,
Diana
