Folks, we just inaugurated President Biden and swore in our new Democratic senators. Now, it's time to get to work.

Earlier this month, I introduced the first bill of my second term: the Resilient Manufacturing Task Force Act.

The coronavirus pandemic exposed critical weaknesses in our country. This bill will strengthen domestic supply chains and keep us safe during future disease outbreaks, cyber-attacks, natural disasters, and whatever else may come.

We can't wait for the next crisis -- we need to be proactive, and that means preparing now. Will you sign on to show your support for passing my bill in Joe Biden's first 100 days?

Last spring, our country failed to provide health care providers and first responders with the equipment they needed. We didn't have enough ventilators, we didn't have enough PPE -- to make matters worse, the Trump administration had no national plan to mobilize resources and manufacture these essential items.

Thankfully, Michigan manufacturers rose to the moment. We answered the call to produce medical equipment, helping to avert an even greater crisis.

Now, as the US embarks on the most ambitious vaccination campaign in our history, we need to be ready. We need a system to detect shortages of essential equipment, predict potential disruptions in the supply chain, and prevent bottlenecks.

Our country is home to the greatest economy on the planet -- there's no reason we shouldn't be able to manufacture life-saving equipment when we need it.

It's time to invest in a resilient national economy. Will you show your support for my bill and help us take this crucial step in building back better?
