Dear John,

I hope you are healthy and well. MPAC’s Hollywood Bureau is excited to share our new venue and slate of activities at this year’s Sundance Film Festival, which will be held virtually from January 28-February 3, 2021. Because the festival is virtual this year, panels and discussions are free to attend! Just create an account with your name, email, and password on the Sundance website, which also provides step-by-step instructions on How to Fest

In 2017, MPAC was the first Muslim organization to host a panel at the Sundance Film Festival. This year, on theme with venues like Blackhouse and The Latinx House, our Hollywood Bureau launched The Muslim House, the first-ever Muslim-led venue and home base for the Muslim creative community at Sundance.

Once “in” The Muslim House, you will see our upcoming panels that you are free to join. Just click “Learn More” and then RSVP! We are thrilled to be co-hosting timely discussions with the Writers Guild of America West, MACRO, and Blackhouse this year:

A NEW NARRATIVE: CHAMPIONING AUTHENTIC BLACK MUSLIM STORIES

Monday, February 1, 2021 3:00 PM - 4:00 PM (PT)

MPAC’s Hollywood Bureau and MACRO will present a discussion on the impact and future of Black Muslim narratives, both on the page and on the screen, to ensuring dynamic and authentic portrayals of the largest and first community of Muslims in America.

POC FILMMAKERS PANEL

SATURDAY, JAN 30, 2021 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM (PT)

Blackhouse, The Muslim House, The Latinx House, Native and IllumiNative, the Asian Pacific Filmmakers Experience, and MACRO Lodge will present a multi-ethnic, multi-racial panel highlighting the importance of unity and authentic representation in conversation with the 2021 Sundance Film Festival’s BIPOC directors.
We hope you will join us for these engaging and timely panels! We continue moving forward in making strategic connections to ensure that the industry has a solid pipeline to Muslim talent, and we will continue to be a resource and conduit between the industry and our communities. Your support of our work makes it all possible.

See you at (virtual) Sundance!

In peace,

Sue Obeidi
Director, MPAC’s Hollywood Bureau
