Team —

Last week, our country started anew with the inauguration of President Joe Biden as well as the beginning of a Democratic-led Senate. And we have a whole lot of work to do.

We must address multiple fronts simultaneously — from an economic crisis to a pandemic to national security threats. Part of moving forward is holding former President Donald Trump accountable.

Trump may no longer be in office, but we cannot forget how he lied to the American people, whipped up thousands of right wing extremists, and incited an attack on the United States Capitol.

Two weeks ago, the U.S. House swiftly moved to impeach Trump for incitement of insurrection. He became the first president in American history to be impeached twice, bringing shame to his office and this nation.

Moments ago, the article of impeachment was formally delivered to the Senate, and we will soon begin the impeachment trial and determine whether to hold Trump accountable to our Constitution and the rule of law.

Add your name alongside mine urging the Senate to vote to convict Trump and disqualify him from ever holding office again.

There must be accountability for actions that are this serious, and this much of a threat — not just to our Constitution, but to the erosion of our nation’s democratic norms.

I firmly believe the Senate can walk and chew gum at the same time: we can rapidly begin to pass more pandemic relief and other legislation to lift up our communities at this challenging moment, while holding Trump accountable and ensuring he can never abuse the office of the presidency or put our democracy in danger again.
