helping us finish the job of eradicating Guinea worm once and for all!
Only one other human disease (smallpox) has ever been eradicated, but
we and our dedicated partners are pushing hard to make Guinea worm the

The Carter Center and a host of other global organizations and
governments will join with the World Health Organization in launching
the WHO's new NTD Road Map. Register for the event »

The Road Map is a 10-year plan for the control, elimination, or even
eradication of 20 diseases that cause massive unnecessary suffering.

Saturday, Jan. 30
We'll observe the second annual World Neglected Tropical
Diseases Day, an event created to bring attention to the accelerated
effort to improve health for vulnerable populations. From Tokyo to
London, Abu Dhabi to Atlanta, some of the world's most iconic
landmarks will light up to raise awareness for this international
cause. The Center plans to illuminate at least eight sites. See our
