John -
Our opponents are hard at work discrediting our movement's recent victories by spreading the same-old lies they’ve used for decades, and frankly — we’re tired of it.
They’re trying to pit climate action against job growth to spread fear and division, because that’s their strategy to hold on to power.
The truth is: the fossil fuel industry and their puppets in Congress don’t care about workers, they care about protecting their profits and campaign contributions.
Here are the facts, John:
The only way we are going to dismantle their lies, create millions of good-paying jobs, and protect the planet is by passing a Green New Deal.
In a tweet this week, Senator Ted Cruz suggested that re-joining the Paris Climate Agreement was putting “the citizens of Paris” above the American people. That’s absurd, and not just because the agreement has nothing to do with the people of Paris.
Americans want a planet that is livable, and the real injustice is putting the profits of billionaire CEOs above the people who are dying from climate disasters and asthma, and losing their homes to wildfires and flooding.
We have a narrow window in Congress right now to fight for a Green New Deal, a climate test for all fossil fuel projects, and other climate measures that will directly impact people’s lives and reverse the trajectory of this crisis.
Momentum is on our side, but our opponents are tweeting out false claims left and right with millions to spend on false ads. We need to fight back and win real progress so we can prove once and for all that climate justice is the only way to lift our country out of this economic recession.
Enough with the lies. We’ve got real work to do.
In solidarity,
Team 350
