I have to admit it, John. It’s been refreshing to wake up in a country with a President who respects the truth and understands the importance of uniting our great nation.

Many days I woke up exhausted by the sheer number of lies and abuses pouring out of the White House under Trump. We’ve never had a president so keen on using deception and disinformation. It seemed like his presidency was defined by daily battles over the very truth itself.

While Trump is gone, his political legacy lives on. Nearly 140 of my colleagues voted against certifying the results of the presidential election based on lies. Many in the Republican Party now openly adhere to fringe conspiracy theories like QAnon that lack any basis in reality.

Without a shred of remorse or pushback from Republican leaders, members of the “Conspiracy Caucus” spread unsubstantiated lies to spur anger and fundraise for future elections. I’m talking specifically about people like Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, Rep. Lauren Boebert, and Senators Josh Hawley and Ted Cruz.

This is the new GOP we’re up against. I’m committed to defending the truth and holding these folks accountable for subverting our democracy, but I need your support. Please chip in a donation to help power the work ahead of us.

President Biden stressed in his inaugural address that all Americans have a duty “to defend the truth and defeat the lies.”

These are difficult times, but truth and decency still matter. Whether we’re defending truth at the ballot box or on the floor of the United States Congress, we must continue to make our voices heard and defeat the lies wherever they emerge.

With you,

Mike
