Friend,
Police violence against Black communities was on full display in 2020. Now, with the new Biden Administration in office and a progressive majority in Congress, we have a rare opportunity to make real change by demanding accountability of our elected officials who made ending police violence against Black and Indigenous communities a highlight of their campaigns.

As our Young People’s Reproductive Justice Policy Agenda revealed, young Black and Indigenous people, immigrants, and LGBTQIA+ people live with the persistent threat of police violence. Not only does relentless policing in our communities endanger our lives, but it also interferes with the right to parent children in safe and sustainable communities — core tenants of Reproductive Justice.
To help answer that question, URGE has launched Beyond Policing, an artivism project designed to help our members, partners, community, and elected officials envision what a world without policing would look like and ways in which community-based solutions could replace the police so that we could be safe and take care of one another.
The works created by our Beyond Policing artists are just the beginning. Today, we’re proud to invite you to join us in using your creativity, voice, imagination to radically imagine a world without policing.
