John,
As you may know, Minnesota has historically led the nation on school choice options, including open enrollment and charter schools. And I am proud to have served as an outspoken advocate for putting students and families before the education bureaucracy during my time in the Minnesota Senate.
Now – under this new era of complete Democrat control in Congress – I am extremely concerned about what’s at store in Washington when it comes to school choice.
The Democrats have opposed new options for students at almost every turn over the last forty years, determined to protect the failed status quo and appease the powerful education unions.
This is a CRITICAL time to continue shining a spotlight on how school choice helps students find the educational environment, focus, and support system that is best for them.
I’d encourage you to check out this website to learn more about school choice and virtual events planned for this week. They have some excellent resources available to help folks keep up with school choice news, developments, and policy priorities by state.
John, I can assure you that I will continue to be a strong and unwavering advocate for school choice and putting kids first. NO child should be trapped in a failing school, or a school that simply doesn’t need their unique needs.
At the systemic level, we need disruption, innovation, and competition to drive education outcomes in our country – an area where we are falling behind other nations.
Thank you, as always, for standing with me now as I fight for our western Minnesota values and priorities in Congress.
I appreciate it more than you know!
- Michelle
