Dear Friend,
Democracy is the fundamental backbone of our society. Without it, the progress we hope to achieve on a wide array of issues from racial justice, economic justice, and so much more is contingent on a flourishing democracy that puts people first.
Make no mistake, the challenges we face today are a result of the erosion of our democracy—and in too many cases, a refusal to extend those fundamental rights to all. Right now, our democracy is on fragile ground, but together, we have an opportunity to make some much-needed changes.
Join us and call on Congress to pass democracy reforms ASAP!
The new Congress recently filed a bill that would overhaul our democracy—for the better. We could clean up our political system, ridding it of the big money that has corrupted our democracy and put the interests of the wealthy and big corporations ahead of working people. The For The People Act would also go a long way to protecting our fundamental right to vote—at a time when those rights are under assault at levels not seen in decades. If passed, the bill would hold elected officials accountable for corrupt behavior, rather than letting them off with almost no repercussions for their dishonest actions.
Sign the petition and tell the House and Senate that it's time to pass the For The People Act and rebuild our democracy.
The For The People Act is perhaps a once-in-a-generation opportunity to make real reforms to our democracy and fully open the doors to building a democracy that puts working people—Black, white, and brown alike—first.
Congress needs to know how much this means to all of us, and it’s why we’re calling on you to sign this critical petition and let members of the House and Senate know that the key to repairing our democracy starts with H.R. 1—the For The People Act.
Don't hesitate—sign the petition now and tell Congress the time to rebuild our democracy is now.
In Solidarity,
Joel
