Dear John:

With 2021 well underway, don't let connection get lost in the shuffle. Here are this week's Support, Education, and Advocacy opportunities to connect--as well as a great STTA Live that you won't want to miss!

International Holocaust Remembrance Day

Support

International Holocaust Remembrance Day

Every year around January 27th, UNESCO pays tribute to the memory of the victims of the Holocaust and reaffirms its unwavering commitment to counter antisemitism, racism, and other forms of intolerance that may lead to group-targeted violence. This year, the United Nations and UNESCO have jointly organized a series of virtual events, in partnership with the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance.

Education

Three Steps to Being a Better Advocate for Inclusive Sex Ed (While You're Stuck At Home)

Just because you’re staying in doesn’t mean your learning should slow down! So, stay safe and take these steps to engage:

  1. Learn: Check out pflag.org/policystatements which includes details about our board-approved policy statements on inclusive sexuality education, HIV and STD prevention, and safe and welcoming schools.

  2. Watch: Presented by PFLAG National Board Member Antón Castellanos Usigli, watch LGBTQ Sex Ed: Health, Rights, and Pleasure which focuses on the “triangle approach” to sex education that was formulated by the Global Advisory Board for Sexual Health and Wellbeing.
  3. Share: Use social media to share LGBTQ+ inclusive sex ed resources and curriculum from organizations like Advocates for Youth and Planned Parenthood, and great websites like Scarleteen.

PFLAG Academy Online: Change the World in Two Minutes - How to Share Your Story

Everyone’s got a story, but knowing how to shape and tell that story effectively is a skill that separates the talkers from the real change-makers. This highly interactive session will encourage participants to pick a personal experience and develop it into an engaging, must-hear narrative that can help move equality forward.

Join us tomorrow, Tuesday, Jan 26, 2021 at 8:30PM ET/5:30PM PT for the first-ever online presentation of this essential learning session! Register now.
