INDIGENOUS REFERENDUM OPPOSITION

The Government has announced it will be pursuing a referendum on indigenous recognition and creating a separate indigenous voice in parliament.

This is a move that One Nation strongly resists.

Our country is saturated with politically correct virtue signalling on these issues which does nothing to address the problems faced by Australians in need.

We will not grow as a nation by dividing ourselves along racial lines with different privileges.

While the Government appears divided on whether or not to commit to a referendum on the foolish idea of creating a special Indigenous chamber of parliament, it is united on pursuing some form of special indigenous recognition in the constitution.

This too is a mistake.

Any form of tokenistic alteration to our constitution must be called out and opposed.

Senator Hanson has been on the front foot with this issue, challenging the need for this referendum and the virtue signalling about indigenous affairs.

In an interview with Michael Mclaren on 2GB, Senator Hanson called for Australians not to fall for the false arguments of those pushing for a special indigenous chamber to parliament and called out the constant virtue signalling we see over indigenous affairs.

Senator Hanson took special aim at a new practice of preforming a welcome to country ceremony as planes touch down at airports.

While many left wing talking heads on television and twitter were quick to condemn Senator Hanson for so called “insensitivity” on this issue, a poll of 18,000 people taken in an online story critical of the comments showed that a majority actually sided with Senator Hanson.

This isn’t surprising, as Senator Malcolm Roberts points out, there is nothing traditional about this manufactured welcome to county performance.

Another big issue on One Nation's radar has been the fight to take back our land rights.

There was a nationwide push from our elected member to raise awareness about this issue which is destroying the lives of many Australians.

Senator Hanson called out the Queensland state Labor Government over the growing trigger mapping scandal.

This mismanaged program is a perfect example of how out of touch government bureaucrats in the city are ruining lives with the click of a button.

Show anyone this story in the Queensland times and they will be rightfully horrified.

In New South Wales, One Nation’s state leader Mark Latham demanded the Government “call off the dogs” on farmers facing heavy-handed penalties for clearing their own land.

Mark spoke strongly in defence of struggling landowners fighting an overzealous vegetation management laws, saying:

"These people are being terrorised by overregulation and unfair process and in a time of drought, I've consistently said call off the dogs, I've pleaded with the Premier to call off the dogs so that these farmers can get on with their business.”

"It's hard enough in a drought, without having to face up to court action as well. And a lot of the court action is very, very unnecessary."
