While we're ecstatic that President Biden has pledged to expand and protect women's access to safe abortions, we know that Republicans will stop at nothing to regain their control over women's bodies.
From the Supreme Court recently imposing heavy restrictions on abortion access and Trump-appointed judges consistently upholding oppressive healthcare regulations, to Republican legislators nationwide introducing an “unprecedented” amount of anti-abortion bills, we have a long way to go before women are freely allowed to choose.
We know that a future where women have access to safe abortions is possible, and it starts by supporting unapologetically progressive representatives at every level of government.
But anti-choice activists aren't folding any time soon, with the president of the National Right to Life Committee saying: "We aren't going to give up, and we will do whatever we can to stop abortion from being promoted." Anti-choicers are eagerly expecting the number of state-level abortion restrictions to drastically increase, despite Biden reiterating his commitment to making safe abortions more accessible during his time in office.
