I’m Maria Elvira Salazar, the newly elected Congresswoman for Florida’s 27th
District!

As a 1st-Generation American, I grew up on stories of the oppressive communist
regime in Cuba, led by the cruel dictator Fidel Castro, from which my parents
and many from our community escaped. This experience forged in me the
importance of liberty and profound pride for the United States of America, but
it also proved to me the fragility of freedom.

This passion for the pursuit of freedom led me to a career in journalism,
where I interviewed a wide range of notable social and political leaders. I
uncovered and exposed Communist and Socialist regimes in Latin America.I even
stood face to face and challenged Fidel Castro on National TV!

I've never wanted to be in Congress, but I knew that the policies Joe Biden,
Kamala Harris, and the Democrat Socialists across the country were espousing
would make this country look more like Cuba and less like the American Dream my
parents fled oppression in search of.

That’s why a group of us new representatives have decided to form the ‘Freedom
Force’ to challenge the radical left and bring new voices to the Republican
Party. We’re representatives who aren’t afraid to defend the American Dream,
and we have a deep commitment to freedom and liberty.
