Folks, I want to make something really clear.
Our team made a lot of headlines for defeating Congressman Dan Lipinski, one of the last anti-choice Democrats in Congress and heir to a political dynasty that had held this seat since 1983.
But this race wasn’t just a victory for women’s rights -- or for me, for that matter.
The real story of our campaign is the power of people like YOU joining together to say we deserve better. We deserve better than an out-of-touch incumbent who voted against Obamacare. Who voted against the DREAM Act. Who in his last week in office, voted against putting $2K in the pockets of Americans who need relief.
You demanded change, and it was your dedication and heart that powered a movement strong enough to break the machine. It may have been my name on the ballot, but it was OUR win -- so today, will you stand with me again by chipping in $3 to keep our grassroots momentum going?
Make no mistake, we’re going to stand up for our reproductive rights against sexist lawmakers who want to drag us back into the past.
But we’re more than a one-trick pony. Together, we’re going to roll up our sleeves and get to work to fix the things that make up everybody’s “every day” -- like providing health care for all, empowering unions, promoting infrastructure and good-paying jobs, and ensuring that everyone’s rights are respected.
We’re going to save our planet and build an economy that works for everyone. But because I’m not taking a single cent from corporate PACs or lobbyists, I’m truly relying on folks like you -- will you chip in $3 or more to support our fight for a New Day in IL-03?
I’m so honored to have you in my corner,
Marie Newman
