(PRO-EQUALITY) PARTY IN THE U.S.A.
We’ll start with the biggest story: all eight openly LGBTQ members of Congress support Democratic Leadership’s impeachment investigations against President Trump. [[link removed]]
And while impeachment is the word of the day, U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin is holding President Trump accountable for his recent attempt to defund military families to pay for his wall [[link removed]] .
A very happy Bi Visibility Week indeed: learn from four bi elected officials on why visibility matters to them [[link removed]] .
U.S. Congressman Mark Pocan is targeting the Homestead detention center, which recently held migrant children, for continuing to charge the government despite closing [[link removed]] .
Almost 60 Mayors – including Victory Institute’s President & CEO Mayor Annise Parker – added their names to a recent op-ed supporting Mayor Pete for President. [[link removed]]
While the clock ticks on the potential recall of Governor Kate Brown , she recently signed a bill to increase support for children and youth. [[link removed]]
A new poll was released for Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot [[link removed]] : great news, she’s universally loved (we could have told you that!).
Madison, WI Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway unveiled a new plan to update Madison’s transit system [[link removed]] .
Maine Representative Ryan Fecteau is celebrating! His bill to ban conversion therapy in Maine is officially law [[link removed]] . Congratulations!!!

THE NEXT GENERATION
Our Domestic Programs team successfully executed their third Candidate & Campaign Training of the year in Minneapolis, Minnesota, training 44 LGBTQ leaders. Women, members of the trans community and nonbinary attendees comprised 56% of training attendees, including our Victory Empowerment Fellows (VEF). Victory Institute has now trained over 120 LGBTQ leaders to run for office in 2019.

THE TAMMY BALDWIN BREAKTHROUGH AWARD NOMINEES ANNOUNCED!
In case you missed it: this morning, we announced our seven new nominees for the Tammy Baldwin Breakthrough Award! The Tammy Baldwin Breakthrough Award is given annually to an up-and-coming state or local LGBTQ elected official whose promising political career will move equality forward.

Maryland Delegate Gabriel Acevero is fighting to maintain school funding and increase teacher salaries [[link removed]] after learning most teachers in state are working two jobs to survive.
North Carolina state Representative Deb Butler had an extremely busy month defying North Carolina’s Republican leadership after they snuck a vote during a 9/11 memorial. Read Director of Constituent Engagment Reggie Greer's exclusive interview with Representative Butler here. [[link removed]]
Much like the U.S., Peru is currently experiencing political upheaval. Peru Congressman Alberto de Belaunde took a quick break from maintaining governmental accountability to debunk mental health myths. [[link removed]]
Colorado state Representative Leslie Herod is campaigning hard for the Green New Deal [[link removed]] , joining forces with Congressmembers Joe Neguse and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
While not holding the Trump Administration accountable, Nebraska State Senator Megan Hunt is taking her local opposition party and Governor to task after key operatives skipped a Medicaid hearing [[link removed]] .
We’re not the only ones to recognize Pennsylvania state Representative Malcolm Kenyatta: he was recently named one of Temple University’s 30 under 30 [[link removed]] .
Eau Claire (WI) School Board Member Joe Luginbill has written over 155 policies and resolutions since his election in 2015. His latest? Protecting children from abuse, neglect and exploitation. [[link removed]]
