Hi John,

During a virtual town hall, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez reminded us of the continued dangers of unchecked white supremacy and conspiracy theories, sharing that “there are ecosystems of support and community that are available to help us solve this problem.”

In the congresswoman's words, the “white supremacist cause is futile,” but “it's going to take a very long time to de-radicalize these people and a lot of effort,” even with a new administration in the White House.

Rep. Ocasio-Cortez believes that it is necessary to reinvest in federal programs that go toward “de-radicalizing” people and stopping the spread of misinformation -- programs that were defunded under Trump -- but we know she'll face Republican opposition in Congress, probably from the same representatives who booed Rep. Cori Bush for denouncing white supremacy.
