We are definitely excited that Donald Trump is no longer president. However, as with any administration, we are concerned that President Joe Biden will not create permanent solutions for the problems that our nation is facing--problems like lack of quality healthcare, protecting the environment, and solving the economic problems made worse by Trump’s mismanagement of COVID-19.
 
At Brand New Congress, we hold all of our public officials accountable and we work to enact BOLD legislation to address not only past failures, but future problems. For instance, while it’s good that Biden has expanded the food stamp program, how does that solve the issue of families going hungry in the future? We need to create better economic stability for all Americans and ensure that no one is left behind, hungry, or houseless.

Another issue BNC is focused on is Medicare for all. The rate of COVID-19 deaths, among many other causes of illness and death are unacceptable. Too many people do not have access to quality health care (if any at all), and even if they do, millions cannot afford it. Our focus should be beyond a COVID-19 vaccine, and on ensuring that the human right of quality healthcare is available to everyone!

While Democrats now control the legislative and executive branches of government, we can now affect needed change. But that will require pushing the Biden administration and Congress to take more progressive stances and holding every branch accountable.
