Friends,

We’re only a few days into the Biden-Harris administration, but it’s already clear that we’ve entered a new era for public lands.

Since taking the oath of office, President Biden has already used executive action to rejoin the Paris Climate Agreement and revoke the Keystone Pipeline permit. This is a sharp departure from the Trump administration, which was one of the most disastrous presidencies for public lands in the history of our nation.

President Biden has his work cut out for him when it comes to undoing the damage of the past four years. Here are some of the actions we’re looking forward to:

-- Removing the influence of special interests from the Department of the Interior. President Trump populated the Interior with former fossil fuel lobbyists who were more concerned with corporate profits than conservation. In addition to the leadership of Secretary-designate Deb Haaland, we look forward to seeing leaders at the Interior committed to defending public lands.

-- Restoring protections to public lands and endangered species. During the lame-duck period, President Trump executed a warp speed operation to sell off drilling rights on public lands and to slash protections for endangered species. President Biden has pledged to end drilling on federal lands, and he has the ability to restore the full protections of the Endangered Species Act.

-- Reaffirming America’s commitment to combating climate change. The previous administration was led by science skeptics and climate change deniers. President Biden has already taken an important step by rejoining the Paris Climate Agreement. Now, the administration must follow up with action to reach its stated goal of carbon neutrality by the year 2035.

President Biden has laid out bold plans to clean up the previous administration’s toxic legacy, invest in clean and renewable energy, and restore America’s commitment to public lands. Not only will these changes protect our nation’s natural treasures and preserve our environment, but they will also create hundreds of thousands of good-paying jobs for Americans.

In order to keep as many people updated on the Biden-Harris administration’s progress toward these goals, will you help us get the word out about our nation’s incredible opportunity for public lands reform by forwarding this message to three friends today?

Thank you for your support.
