It will take some time to get a full picture, but we already know Trump campaign funds and affiliated dark money groups channeled millions to individuals and groups linked to the assault on the U.S. Capitol. It's long past time to deal with dark money in our politics.

We've worked for years to chip away at the damage caused by the Supreme Court's 2010 Citizens United decision. Immediately following the Court's ruling I authored the DISCLOSE Act when I was serving in the House of Representatives and we were able to get House passage that year -- only to see it fail by ONE VOTE in the Senate.

It's been 10 years since that costly setback, but we finally have a chance to get this done now.

Let's get dark money and the corruption it brings out of our political system!

The first order of business of the new Democratic-controlled Senate will be passage of the For the People Act, which includes critical reforms to repair our democracy, rebuild its institutions and restore faith in democratic government -- including sweeping campaign finance provisions and key reforms from the 2010 DISCLOSE Act legislation.

With our new majorities in Congress and President Biden in the White House, we need to move quickly to breathe new life into our democracy by getting big money and corruption out of the system, protecting the right to vote, ending partisan gerrymandering and much more.

We need broad, bipartisan support to act quickly. Please sign my petition to support these critical reforms.

We have seen how fragile our democracy is. And we need to take dramatic action to prevent a repeat of the last four years.

There is no time to waste!

Chris
