Question from Claudia: What is actively being done to rescind the governor's emergency executive powers, which are long past due?

Answer: Since last summer, Republicans have been fighting for the legislature to take back Cuomo's emergency powers and return to representative democracy. I have traveled around the state calling on Democrat leaders to do their jobs. So far, every day of the 2021 legislative session, Senate Republicans have put forth a hostile amendment to strip his powers, yet Democrats vote against it every time. This isn't a monarchy and we will not rest until we are successful and the people's voice has been restored.

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo blamed the federal government this week for the Big Apple’s disastrous CoVID Vaccination roll-out after countless complaints over his administration’s handling of the medicine. “And that entire flood has to go through a syringe,” Cuomo said “All this volume, and it has to go through the point of a needle, literally and figuratively. That’s the situation that the federal government created.
It’s all going south. A former head of New York state Democratic Party has already received his first dose of the coronavirus vaccine — no thanks to Gov. Andrew Cuomo. John Sullivan, who was co-chairman of the state party in the 1990s, was among the New York snowbirds to become eligible for the shot in Florida before Cuomo opened vaccination sites to senior citizens in the Empire State.
Republican lawmakers are seeking to cut back Governor Cuomo’s emergency COVID-19 powers. Since the spring of 2020, New York State Governor Andrew Cuomo has issued dozens of Executive Orders allowing the change of state laws and implementing rules without legislative approval. Now a legislative amendment is in the works as State Senate Republicans are planning to bring an end to the Governor’s unlimited, COVID-19 emergency executive powers.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo was supposed to lay out his budget for the coming fiscal year Tuesday, but instead he just ranted about Washington, demanded it hand over $15 billion and threatened pain — and a lawsuit — if it doesn’t. This, from the guy who just wrote a book on leadership.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo says that we can’t wait for New York to hit vaccine herd immunity before reopening businesses. He says that the pain caused by keeping the economy closed for another estimated six months or more while the vaccine takes hold would be far too painful. So what is Cuomo waiting for? He should re-open limited indoor dining in New York City right now. It’s all in his control.
