John xxxxxx,

There’s a problem in America. Corporations, wealthy special interests and lobbyists have amassed a great deal of power in Washington, DC. Dark money has poisoned our politics. The voices and needs of the people have too many times been put aside to appease these powerful interests, especially during the Trump presidency.

The events over the past four years under former President Trump — including his invitation to other countries to interfere in the 2016 election, countless lies and misinformation to undermine voters and the 2020 election results and the violent insurrection that ensued on January 6th — have made it abundantly clear: our democracy is in disrepair and needs defending.

That’s why Democrats are making democracy reform one of our top priorities after taking back the Senate majority.

One of the first bills we aim to pass in the first 100 days is the For the People Act: a set of reforms to finally get dark money out of politics since the disastrous 2010 Citizens United Supreme Court decision, make voting easier and more secure, reduce corporate influence in government, prevent corruption and stop foreign attempts to interfere in our elections.

It’s time to put power back in the hands of the people.

Show your support for this bill to defend our democracy and fix our broken system: add your name as a citizen cosponsor of the For the People Act now.

Our government should be of the people, by the people, for the people. This legislation will help repair our democracy and achieve that very promise.

Keep the faith,
