Politicians who waste your money should be famous and we want to make sure they get all the attention they deserve at the Canadian Taxpayers Federation’s 2021 Teddy Waste Awards!
Each year, the CTF takes centre stage on Parliament Hill to hand out our iconic golden pig statues to the worst money-wasters in government.
This year, the presentation may be a little different, but the goal is the same: to make sure Canadians know how much of their money is being wasted (while still having a little fun with it!)

Our 2020 winners included Global Affairs Canada for flying chefs around the world, the Yukon Department of Tourism for throwing gold in a creek, the city of Toronto for cracking down on seniors’ euchre games, and a lifetime achievement award for ex-Montreal mayor Michael Applebaum for going to prison while still remaining eligible for $1 million in lifetime pension payments.
Often the nominees and winners are so outrageous it’s hard to believe they’re real.
The Teddys get a lot of media coverage every year: television, radio, newspapers, you name it. So please give us an internet link to a news story about your nominee. We need to be able to prove everything we say. Exposing waste and corruption is serious business, even when it’s seriously funny!
