Hey, John, did you see this message from Paul?
We are on course for a new era - and with new leadership in Congress and the White House, it is imperative to take immediate action that reforms our democracy for the better - that makes our democracy stronger.
That's why we put out a call to action for 1,500 members of this movement to sign our petition calling on Congress to pass the For the People Act - a sweeping piece of legislation that will expand voter registration, limit voter roll purges, and create nonpartisan redistricting commissions.
But we're still 232 signatures short. Our new government is in motion. It's time for action, and this is one of the simplest yet boldest actions that Congress and the new administration could take. So please, will you add your name right now calling on Congress to make democracy reforms a top priority?

Subject: Action needed: Tell Congress to put democracy reforms FIRST

The 117th Congress has been sworn in. In a few days, Joe Biden will be president of the United States - buttressed by Democratic majorities in both the House and Senate. He must take bold action immediately. Action that ends rampant corruption, kicks big money out of our political system, and protects voting rights - because we know the simple truth is this: The more people that participate in our democracy, the stronger and more equitable our democracy becomes.
So, what do we do? A first and easy step: Pass the For the People Act. The House of Representatives passed it in 2019 - signaling support for expanded voter registration, limits to voter roll purges, and independent, nonpartisan redistricting commissions. But one man stopped it: Mitch McConnell.
Upon passing the For the People Act, we must go even further. We must codify a new Voting Rights Act to institute automatic and same-day voter registration, and make universal mail-in voting the standard, not the exception. And to drive equity forward in our nation, we can restore voting rights to incarcerated and formerly incarcerated people.
This bold action to strengthen our democracy is possible - if people like you speak out in favor of these steps. If people like you keep urging Congress to do the right thing. If people like you make your voices heard by the thousands. So please, will you sign our petition calling on Congress to make democracy reforms a top priority? We need 1,500 more signatures, and your name is still missing.
