What Brand New Congress (BNC) has managed to grow in the wake of the Nov. 2016 election is really astounding, so I’m honored that BNC recognized our campaign’s close ties to Illinois’ 7th District and the work we’ve put into creating positive change in this district. I’ve taught here in the 7th for ten years, and I’ve witnessed firsthand the tragic outcomes of an apathetic government—such as the 11 students I’ve lost to gun violence. BNC’s endorsement isn’t just a rubber stamp; it includes a comprehensive support system designed to help its candidates compete and win. Today I am proud to stand shoulder to shoulder with other BNC candidates like Cori Bush, AOC and Robert Emmons. We are a community and a movement. This team-like atmosphere has been great in helping us strategize and seriously consider a world with a truly Brand New Congress—a Congress made up of people like you and me. We hope that like BNC, you’ll support our campaign. We’re just four days from the 9/30 FEC filing deadline, really just hours left. Our fundraising numbers for this quarter will soon be made public, and people will evaluate how strong our campaign is based on those numbers. Every dollar you give matters.
