January 2021 VACCINE SUPPLY UPDATE Today, Governor Polis was joined by Jill Hunsaker Ryan, Executive Director of CDPHE, and Rick Palacio, Strategic Consultant to the Governor for an update on Colorado’s plans for equitable distribution of the COVID-19 vaccine. Each week, the State is rapidly administering vaccines and exhausting our supply to ensure that no dose sits idle on a shelf. However, in order to vaccinate people as quickly as possible, we need more vaccines: Like the rest of the country, Colorado is reliant on the federal government for our weekly supply of vaccines. The State has been told that we can expect about 83,000 vaccines per week through the rest of January. Fortunately, providers statewide have risen to the challenge and are working quickly to streamline their processes for intake, administration, and follow-up with Coloradans in Phase 1A and 1B currently receiving their first and second doses of the vaccine. The Governor thanks our health providers and community partners for their commitment to meeting Coloradans where they are, and getting vaccines into arms in as equitable a way as possible. EQUITABLE VACCINE DISTRIBUTION CDPHE Executive Director Ryan and the Governor’s Strategic Advisor Rick Palacio spoke to the wildly important goals the State is working hard to achieve for equitable COVID-19 vaccine distribution in hard-to-reach communities: “We want everyone to know the vaccine is free, so income, immigration status, and health insurance should not be barriers. It is important that every adult who can get the vaccine does get vaccinated, so when you get the chance, please take it” said Jill Hunsaker Ryan, Executive Director of CDPHE. “We need to end this crisis that has been brought on by this pandemic. We know this virus will be with us for some time, getting the vaccine into arms can end this crisis,” said Rick Palacio, Strategic Consultant to the Governor. The Governor was proud to announce that Colorado has partnered with community organizations to stand up drive-through vaccination clinics in San Luis, Center, Alamosa, Aurora, Denver and more to make connections with Coloradans who may not otherwise have access. Community clinics will help ensure that Coloradans who might not have access to a health care provider will still have access to the vaccine. Through these vaccination events, we have vaccinated hundreds of Coloradans 70 and older, and the State is looking forward to faciliating even more events like these going forward. The State has also taken steps to ensure that there are no barriers for Coloradans in getting the vaccine: The vaccine is free: Income and health insurance are not barriers to getting the vaccine. No government-issued ID or other forms of identification are required: The ability to present a photo ID plays no part in whether or not someone can get the vaccine. Vaccine for all: Everyone has access regardless of immigration status. VACCINE PROVIDERS UPDATE Governor Polis today provided an update on how Coloradans who are 70 and older can sign up to receive the vaccine through the State’s major health care providers: Coloradans who are not yet eligible to receive the vaccine can still sign up through the State’s health care providers to receive vaccine alerts and sign up for a spot on a provider’s vaccine waitlist. Many major providers have also provided toll-free numbers where people can call to make an appointment and find out more information about the vaccine. Coloradans are not required to be a current member of any major health care provider to receive the vaccine. Below, you will find information from some of the state's major health care providers on how you can sign up to make an appointment to get vaccinated, receive updates, and access assistance in languages other than English. Denver Health: If you do not have access to MyChart, you are welcome to set up an appointment with the Denver Health appointment center by calling the phone number listed below. Find your Centura Provider: Centura.org/Provider-Search UC Health: If you have a UCHealth My Health Connection Account, you are already on the list to be contacted when it is your turn to receive the vaccine. UCHealth's website and hotline can be accessed in Spanish as well as almost 100 other languages through interpreter services. Call: 720-462-2255 Hours of operation: Monday through Friday – 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday – 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. UCHealth has administered more than 72,000 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine to nearly 55,000 people. Almost 18,000 have received both their first and second doses of the vaccine. They have vaccinated more than 23,000 people 70 and older, including thousands of people who have never been UCHealth patients. UCHealth also brought on almost 40 additional new full-time employees (FTEs) to help staff the phone line, and they plan to hire between 80 and 100 new FTEs to staff their vaccine clinics in the long-term. Banner Health: Banner Health is receiving a high number of requests for appointments and advises patients to schedule appointments online. Outreach to eligible individuals is randomized and equitable without discrimination based on background or ability to pay.
