At the end of 2019, DC residents were experiencing more household debt per capita than all 50 states. An ongoing global health crisis is highlighting and intensifying the unnecessary debt burdens we carry.
Join the DC Chapter of the Debt Collective and the DC Poor People’s Campaign for a tribunal on our student, medical, housing and legal debts. We are hosting a listening session to share our experiences with going into debt paying for necessities that could and should be public goods. We will discuss what debt looks like for DC residents right now and how debtors are organizing to challenge their moral obligations to pay unjust debts.
