Ask Mark Anything, Thursday 5:30PM

Join us for a members-only "Ask Me Anything" event with our new(ish) Executive Director, Mark Cordes, who joined us in late August. (You can become a member when you register!)

Who is Mark? Why does he care about transit? What does he find exciting and fun about his new role? Where does he see the future of public transit in San Francisco? What are the big challenges he thinks we face now and will be facing in the coming years? What does it mean to him to advocate for transit riders?

What else do you want to ask him?

Register today for a casual get-together to hear Mark share what he really thinks, and get a picture of what's next for San Francisco Transit Riders with his leadership.

More Muni This Saturday

This Saturday, January 23, will be a big day for Muni and its riders - a lot of service is rolling out, along with a lot of smaller changes to better balance service. These changes will no doubt help thousands of people counting on Muni to get around. They could also be the last big round of service increases for a while, and there are still too many neighborhoods without service.

Some highlights:

  • The T Third will be a train again, but will turn around at Embarcadero due to work still going on in the subway. We'll be watching the 4th Street Bridge to see if the new signal phases help keep the T moving!
  • The brand new 15 Bayview Hunters Point Express (15 BHP Express) is launching, connecting the far side of the hill from the T Third with limited stops straight to downtown.
  • The 27 Bryant, modified, is returning.
  • A few years after going through extensive community review, the 22 Fillmore is moving to Mission Bay, and the 55 Dogpatch is finally launching! This should improve a bunch of connections.

As great as these service increases are, there is still too much service missing from too many neighborhoods. We will continue to advocate at all levels, from San Francisco to Washington D.C., for more funding to bring back the service we need.

President Biden's Ambitious Recovery Package

Folks in the national transit conversation are excited about transit-oriented appointments to top positions at the Department of Transportation.

We're also thrilled to hear that President Biden's $1.9 trillion recovery package includes $20 billion for public transit.

The devils will of course be in the details, and in what can get through Congress. We will continue our work with a coalition of national advocates to bring the rider's voice to the national discussion around funding priorities.
