Over 200,000 people have contracted COVID-19 in Chicago. The Latino, Black, and working-class families in our district have been disproportionately affected by the virus, and we need to work together to do everything we can to protect our communities.

With COVID-19 running rampant in Chicagoland, we need to weigh the dangerous consequences of ignoring health experts and reopening our schools. All of our students deserve the best education we can offer them, but we can’t return to in-person learning until it is safe.

We cannot jeopardize the lives of our students, teachers, and staff - and their families. Their safety needs to be our number one priority.
