Team,
On this day forty-eight years ago, Roe v. Wade became the law of the land, and the ability for women to make decisions about their own bodies was solidified as a right.
But today anti-choice lawmakers are working to strip away reproductive rights by limiting access and trying to outright ban abortion. Chris believes that politicians have no place standing in the way of private decisions between people and their doctors -- that's why as an Executive Councilor he successfully fought to protect funding for Planned Parenthood.
Add your name if you agree that reproductive rights are essential and Roe v. Wade must be protected >>
With less than three days in office, President Biden has already issued executive orders to reverse some of the Trump Administration's disastrous policies that restricted access to reproductive health care in the U.S and abroad. But even with a pro-choice administration in office, conservative legislators are trying to pass restrictions on reproductive health care in an effort to have the Supreme Court reconsider Roe v. Wade.
Last year we saw Senate Republicans rush to confirm Justice Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court just weeks before the election. Now, despite 7 in 10 Americans supporting the decision in Roe v. Wade, we have a conservative majority on the Supreme Court that has indicated they disagree with the legal precedent. We must be prepared to fight back.
Let's be clear: Reproductive rights are human rights, and reproductive health care should be accessible to all.
We have hard work ahead of us to guarantee reproductive freedom for all. Show Chris you have his back in the fight to defend reproductive rights in 2021 by adding your name now.
Thank you,
Team Pappas
